Douglas County Hires New Boys Varsity Basketball Coach

Douglas County High School is thrilled to announce the hiring of Mike Gibbs as the new head coach of the boys' basketball program. Coach Gibbs brings with him over 20 years of coaching experience, having served as a head coach at Ponderosa High School and Highlands Ranch High School, and as an assistant coach at Black Hills State University. Most recently, he was an assistant coach at Cherry Creek High School.

Coach Gibbs is renowned for his high level of dedication and meticulous approach to coaching. His ability to get the most out of every athlete, combined with his detail-oriented nature, makes him an excellent fit for the Douglas County Boys Basketball Program. Gibbs's leadership is expected to elevate the team and instill a culture of excellence and accountability.

"We are extremely excited to have Coach Gibbs join our staff," said the athletic director of Douglas County High School. "His extensive experience and proven track record of success will be invaluable as we strive to build a program that competes at the highest level. We believe his vision and commitment will help us achieve our goal of becoming annual contenders for the state title."

Throughout his career, Coach Gibbs has demonstrated a unique ability to develop players and teams. At Ponderosa High School, he led the team to numerous winning seasons, establishing a reputation for building disciplined and competitive squads. His tenure at Highlands Ranch High School was marked by significant improvements in team performance and player development.

Gibbs's college coaching experience at Black Hills State University, where he was instrumental in recruiting and mentoring athletes, further underscores his ability to prepare players for the next level. His most recent role at Cherry Creek High School saw him contribute to one of the top programs in the state, further honing his skills and strategies.

"I am honored and excited to join the Douglas County Boys Basketball Program," said Coach Gibbs. "I look forward to working with the talented athletes here and helping them reach their full potential. My goal is to create a program that not only competes for state titles but also prepares players for college basketball and beyond."
